i'm all out of whack

I'm all out of whack. (yo girl, that's whack!)

obviously, i'm pregnant, so out of whack. but let me just say there's more to it than pregnancy. so i had this great conversation with my parents. told them i'm pregnant (woo-hoo, no more paranoid telling the Mom dreams) and part of it was me complaining about all the fore mentioned pregnancy related symptoms. so my mom suggests getting myself on a schedule.

(my mom is a planner if you can't tell) a schedule of eating and exercising to be exact because i'm saying i don't know how to exercise. do i exercise a lot and just go for it and to heck with it if i'm exhausted, OR do i hold back and save some energy during the day so i can teach in the evenings. and jokingly i say ' well maybe i'll just work out really hard in the morning and then take a nap and be ready for the afternoon' but then i decide , hey that's a really good idea.... so i tried it out yesterday

yesterday morning i got up and put my gym clothes on and went straight to the elliptical. the great thing about pregnancy is that your ability to process oxygen goes WAY up so even though you feel like you are gasping for air, each gasping breath is doing much more for you than before. so i actually got pretty pumped. i even weighed myself afterwards and i weighed the same as when i went to the doctor that first time (i'm SURE the scale is way off though, that just can't be right judging my my belly and thighs) so, alright that went pretty well.

next i went home, ate breakfast, and took a sweet hour long nap. nice. then tyco and i went for a walk around the neighborhood, then i made dinner and ate lunch. then i went out and taught my hour long yoga class. not such a big deal. after that i went to the other yoga studio and practiced for an hour (supposed to be with my friend, but she couldn't show up) and i stayed afterwards for a restorative/resting class. no work involved with that one. by then it was 6:30 and i went home and waited for max to come home.

that's a pretty standard day for me when i'm not pregnant. i don't go to the gym all that often to be sure, but i'm likely to practice yoga at LEAST an hour a day and possibly attend class and then practice later in the day on my own. so after the whole day i was pretty surprised i was still standing and functioning. no major problems aside from dinner not agreeing with me (boo hiss!).

TODAY. DEAD STOP.
i got up and walked tyco with max. ate breakfast. went to bed. got up showered went to kinko's came back ate lunch and planted my body on the couch for an hour then went up to bed for two hours then back to the couch. then a meeting for two hours and back to the couch. i did NOT practice yoga for an hour even though i need to. i did NOT get anything done other than some phone calls. and i felt like a total zombie.

the lesson, ok, maybe i'll pace myself throughout the week AND maybe not go QUITE so hard again until the 2nd trimester rolls around and i have enough energy to clean the windows with a toothbrush. that and i probably still need more protein.
