Pregnancy really cramps your style, or at least your travel plans. Last weekend we went home to Roanoke to visit with Mama Boo and Granddaddy (those are my votes for grandparent names, we can continue to negotiate) and i'd had a busy week so i was somewhat tired already. We took it easy. on friday i visited with Gigi and taught her a yoga class which we followed up with a living room dance session and lunch out. then dinner out with the rents/grandrents. Saturday a visit to the transportation museum for max to see the trains and i had to just sit down. i reached the END. what a slug i felt like. we went to lunch at a great favorite restaurant but it was so LOUD and the noise bounced around the room endlessly. ugh. i started to feel like my hands were going numb and the side of my face was pounding. i got very very quiet until Max said 'are you feeling ok?' 'no, i'd better go outside.' so i went outside for fresh air and that helped. when we got back to the Pack house i just went to the dark basement and rested. finally i said we'd better just leave because i'd rather just go to bed at home. so i felt bad having to cut the visit short, but sometimes that happens. the headache finally disappeared on Monday.
it's not SO bad that this happened. it made me get a little serious. all winter we've been talking about a trip out to Arizona to see my brother, Jin, and their sweet baby Isabelle at easter. well, on sunday i looked at the calendar and realized Easter is well within the first trimester. the thought of traveling all day in an airplane and then feeling terrible but trying to put on a good face while i was there was NOT appealing to me. so monday night i called and we decided we'd better change to the end of April. ARG!! dang pregnancy cramping our style and travel plans!
i mean really, how can you resist this little one???
i'm pretty much betting on feeling better by Trimester deux. (and actually i feel better this week with not forcing myself to eat salad and with eating smaller meals all the time, mmmm almond butter) so then in Trimester 2 we are planning Arizona and then my dad's and grandmom's b'day party and yesterday i booked my trip to Ohio for a 5 day yoga immersion. i'd better feel WAY better than i did last week. i'm sure it will be fine, i have great confidence in my body to do what it is supposed to do (hence the natural childbirth plans).
until then though i guess i just have to take it easy and see what each day brings. no major travel plans allowed.
