Currently Craving: ENERGY
The sleeping continues. though, not at night. just during the day. i am entirely backwards. really, that's not true, i'm sleeping at night except for a big hour or 2 break during which i rest but don't sleep.
the experience is pretty crazy. i'll be going along fine. energetic, normal feeling. and then WHAM! first hunger. MUST EAT SOMETHING... like cookie monster but for ANYthing.... and that is followed by instant food coma. no matter what i eat. i absolutely must put my head on the pillow and PASS OUT.
the problem is, once i go down that's it. there's no getting me back up. i feel like my limbs are filled with cement and my head never clears back up from nap zone. not good for someone who works late afternoons and evenings. makes me want to avoid taking naps but if i do that i'm just walking around like a zombie and totally running the risk of falling asleep behind the wheel (not recommended).
I was thinking maybe this was a lack-of-iron or lack-of-protein issue, but yesterday i was resting with my hands on my abdomen and i think i felt the actual creature who is housed in my belly, not just the bubble it lives in... and that made me think... this thing is having a serious growth spurt and i get to do the sleeping for it.
on sunday i told one of the women at yoga about my sleeping and i said i was just indulging in it when i can. she said 'it's amazing how much energy it takes to make a baby.' and she encouraged me to keep sleeping as much as possible, 'indulge now because once the baby comes it's all over' yeah. that sounds fun.

I think that you'll have nap phases--it won't be the whole pregnancy. (I'm in a nap phase right now.) adn my midwife always said there's a reason when you feel sleepy, so sleep! Same with hungry! Now, the chocolate cravings, I'm not so sure about.... :) Actually, a study just found that dark chocolate once a day helps lower your risk of preclampsia/toxemia! So, yay for that!
