Not only did max come home from LA with my sweet sweet water bottle... he also came home a little nervous about our name choice. we've had a name in mind for a while now and have always said we're about 99.9% sure this is the name. BUT we haven't shared, partially because i was so afraid we'd change our mind. and now max has gotten a bit nervous about it. so we're starting to toss ideas around again. i won't share our ideas except to say that one of the ideas was to only slightly change the name from what we started with... but when we did that we realized it was the name of a well known celebrity and one we did NOT want our child to be associated with.
what stinks is that celebrities have some really great names, but they have some really crazy personalities!!!
if we had a boy what if we wanted to name him kenneth garret fischer? Kenny G? I don't think so...
but of course we're having a girl. we could go pretty generic with something like Lindsey or Britney. oh wait. hmmmm..... maybe not
what about a little french-canadian?

or even more exotic. (and to be honest i did think Paris was an interesting name when i was in high school. but i had never heard of Paris Hilton then)
and the celebrity baby names are just as trecherous. in the beginning i liked the name Lola. but max said it sounds like a stripper (ok) and it is Madonna's daughter's name. Lola, Madonna's daughter, is like 10 or 11 so i don't think we'd have a bunch of others using the same name as copy cats to worry about. but if we went with something like oh, Knox (as in brad pitt and angelina jolie's son) or Apple or Moses (like gweneth) or even Max (christina aguilera's son) we'd probably have several friends of the same name in Babe's preschool class (at Sabot). and while she's not a celebrity i really love my brother's DOG's name, Eden. but i don't think my daughter would appreciate being named after her cousin, the dog.
so who knows. i guess we won't be looking to celebrities (or dogs) for inspiration. maybe we'll go Balinese with this and name her Wayan (first) and then the next one can be second... and so on. the balinese make everything so simple!

With Cillian, had he been a girl, we were thinking of Ava Brangwen. My sister, upon hearing this, stated, "You do know that sounds a lot like Hitler's mistress, right?" Actually, no, I had not thought of Eva Braun... it is crazy how some people will associate some names.
Your comments about celebrities is pretty funny actually, since both of our names came to me through the muse of entertainment; both are Irish actors. Cillian we decided upon after watching 28 Days (Cillian Murphy), and the name for this baby was one I had been considering for Cillian that was the name of an older actor I had seen in many BBC productions and such. It helps us that I insist all names be Celtic/Gaelic in origin, since it really limits the possibilities.
We really struggled with this baby's name, too. We are also 99.9% sure, but are not sharing for that .1%. We have about 4 combinations lined up just in case. Not too much longer until we all find out these names, huh?
Picking a name is like cooking spaghetti. You know it is done when it sticks to the wall. When we picked Isabelle there were doubts but we liked it. In the back of our heads we would ask "Well what if she isn't really an Isabelle and we name her wrong?" This even lasted after she was born. But now I can't think of calling her by any other name. Well maybe Belly.

My boss and his wife took 10 days to name their son. They had several options and waited until one just felt right. The hospital likes to tie up the paperwork quickly, but midwives will often let you take your time in choosing.
In another note, my mum had chosen my middle name and then changed her mind the moment she saw me. The one she had picked didn't seem to fit.
