Yup, I'm the Pregnant Lady

Currently Craving: More time and a vacation

Be warned... this may be a total complaint entry. don't feel you have to read it.

I am officially uncomfortably pregnant. i truly thought i'd just LOVE being pregnant. i haven't LOVED it. i've been more indifferent and in the last week i've gotten annoyingly uncomfortable and am getting to the point of being ready for the end to be near. maybe it's partially because we are at 32 weeks so compared with having 40 to go, having 8 to go is getting pretty near to the end. especially when you know as i do how fast time flies these days.

Here's what i'm OVER about being pregnant:

feeling like my stomach is distended. .. i feel like i ate too much for dinner all the time, the skin on my stomach is pulled so tight over the belly. my abs have actually done a really great job of holding Babe in, but they're not supposed to do that, they're supposed to let her go OUT more. which leads to ...

feeling like i can't eat. 1 because my stomach is too small and there isn't any room and 2 because of heartburn. therefore i have so much less interest in eating that i forget to do it. and then i end up feeling even worse

feeling just gross. in the last few days i've felt more hormonal or something and am feeling like i did in the first trimester with a sickening sense of near nausea and sort of head fogginess. yuk. i'm finding that if i remember to eat it helps with this problem though. and i'm wondering if Babe is making me lactose intolerant because the nauseaishness keeps up if i eat dairy. i'm testing this hypothesis and this morning still feel a little uggy without any dairy so who knows.

feeling sore in my body. my abs are stretching which isn't so comfortable. also i get some pubic syphysis pain which is not super comfortable. i thought my hips were wide enough! my muscles get more sore from yoga too. particularly my legs and my back get tired

feeling heavy and tiring out more easily. i'm just carrying around a lot more poundage these days and that's tiring. doing normal things takes more time and energy. i feel so bad to say i can't walk tyco or i need to just sit on the couch ALL DAY so i don't do it. but that's what i WANT to do.

feeling sleep-deprived. maybe this is because max is out of town at the moment and i never sleep as well when he's not around but it is SO annoying not to sleep through the night. i had two nights last week when i was wide awake for the hours from 4 to 6 for NO reason. my brain got all wound up over nothing, i can't even tell you what i was thinking about just that my brain felt tight, but my body was exhausted. on the second night i actually got up and put on a relaxation CD from one of my teachers and eventually fell back asleep on my yoga mat on the floor. and i'll take that over sitting awake in bed

feeling braxton hicks contractions all the friggin' time. they aren't necessarily painful, more just annoying. i think part of it is related to my lack of eating which also includes lack of drinking, so i am re-hydrating as much as possible. but i also think this uterus is just trying to get her act together and we'll be all set when delivery time comes. they last a LONG time and that makes me nervous that i'm going to have seriously huge and long contractions during labor. but what do i know anyways? i'm sure any contraction i feel is going to feel huge and long. and if they're big they'll get her out that much faster i suppose.

feeling like i live in the bathroom. these potty runs really break up the day when they happen every 5 minutes!

feeling like there is too much to do and I'm the one who has to do it. babies come with maids, cooks, nannies, drivers, and personal trainers right?

feeling that my yoga practice is totally lacking. i just miss being able to do SO many of the poses. and it makes teaching a lot more difficult when i can't demonstrate what i mean for people to do.

OK off the pity party train and onto some gratitude. i am grateful:

i am not swollen. hands, feet, face, body... nothing has swelled up even in richmond heat. maybe also because of the lack of water

i don't have a 40+ hour a week full-time job i'm trying to go to and i don't have to worry about scheduling vacation time or maternity leave pretty much. i sort-of do but yoga jobs understand if your body doesn't work you can't teach.

i have friends and family who are willing to listen to me complain and to offer advice without criticism. i also have friends and family who have their own lives and that reminds me that i can listen to what is going on with them and get out of my own brain for a while.

i'm not so huge that none of my maternity clothes fit any more

i really am pretty healthy and am not on bed rest or having any complications at all with this pregnancy

max will carry the laundry up and down the stairs for us

max has also cooked more often lately

supermarkets have really tasty prepared foods that i can walk in and buy if i'm too tired and uninspired to cook anything

when i went to get my haircut last week the man there washed my hair for me. AH! that is one of the best treats in the whole wide world! and i guess along with that is gratitude for the ability to have massages from time to time and for being able to get my nails done once in a while. it just feels so good to have someone else do my maintenance for me.

netflix

i feel like i should have a lot more gratitude items on the list but that's all i can come up with at the moment. maybe more later. now i'm off to teach.
