Birth Circle again

Currently Craving: More Peanut Butter

Last night was another meeting of the RVA Birth Circle. it meets from 7 to 8:30 on tuesdays with some chatting time afterwards. yesterday afternoon i started losing steam and just didn't feel much like going out of the house, but max was ready and planning to go. and since we haven't read our homework for baby class tonight he even said he thought we'd get more out of attending birth circle than reading. so we went.

and it was good that we went. we heard two full stories and one reflection from a father (who is also a 4th year medical student). one story was totally awful. very long labor ending in C-section. the second story was absolute textbook beautiful fabulous home birth with orchids floating in the bath. and in between, a second time mom asked about how to deal with the fear of the pain of the entire process.

it was empowering to listen to the stories and to hear the suggestions of the women for how to deal with the pain and the anticipation of the pain. and it is so empowering to max to hear from the fathers about how it can be scary but also so sweet to be able to support their wives through the labor and delivery.

when we left max said 'i'm ready' and 'i'm pumped' and he asked me if i am pumped and ready. (well, that and totally freaked). and we talked about how surreal the entire experience will be. and after it all babe will be here and we'll have her little personality to get to know. wild. but i'm glad we went especially knowing how energizing and inspiring the group was for max last night.
