Sabine - The women of Ancient Rome. The Sabine women were taken by the Romans from their homes in Sabin a county nearby. so Sabine officially means 'woman of Sabin'. The women became the wives of the Romans but then their fathers and brothers came to make war on Rome to get the women back. The Sabine women were torn between husbands and families and brothers and fathers... they ran into the battlefield and stopped the battle. so the Sabine women are definitely peacemakers. There is a famous Italian statue 'the rape of the Sabine women' that is about this story. in this case 'rape' is meant more as 'kidnapping'.
all that aside... what her name means to us is how the women are described.... Full of Grace, and the perfect female form.
full of grace is even more fitting as she was born on a Sunday... sunday's child is full of grace right?

Since I often have this problem as a parent of children with unique names, how do you pronounce Sabine? I want to make sure I get it correct!!
well, we like Sa (with the A like apple) Bine (like a bean) but it comes out sounding a bit more like Suh-bean (uh-what's up?) either way is fine but we like it a bit more A sound to it. and i guess the emphasis is on the 'bean' rather than the 'Sa'
