currently holding sleeping baby
Here's a run down of Sabine's first week.
Sunday Oct 12 she is born in our home in the tub at 10:23 am. length 19 inches (only she's probably longer but nancy didn't want to stretch her leg any more, she's extremely strong!) weight 5 lbs 10 oz. we're all surprised she's so small but more on that in the birth story. and i'll write her birth story, but not right now. Katie and my mom come to visit. my mom stays on as our post partum doula and is the best gift we could EVER EVER have!
Monday Oct 13 Laying In. Nancy came back to check on us. i'm healing well and 'don't even look like you just had a baby' sabine weighs 5lbs 4 oz but is nursing well.
Tuesday Oct 14 to the pediatrician, in the car and out into the world for the first time. she likes the car for sure! and she did great at the pediatrician. they don't give us any trouble about the home birth. and she's already gained an ounce back and has a breastmilk poop right there in the office so they say come back in a month (HOORAY!) they do her heel stick test.
Wednesday Oct 15 Laying in. we don't even go downstairs
Thursday Oct 16 Sabine meets Grandy and Eddie (or is it Yettie?) her grandparents on max's side. of course she's a little fussy the whole time but that's ok. i think they'll still spoil her as much as possible. uncle jacob comes over for dinner
Friday Oct 17 Laying in. again we don't go downstairs and i stay in bed all day writing her birth story. it is a cold rainy day when the rest of the week has been sunny and beautiful. FALL arrives. daddy has to work all day but my mom is there to take care of us. first sponge bath - she still had birth grit in her hair
Saturday Oct 18 Grandaddy arrives (my dad) he stays over night and also goes out to play golf with my brother giving sabine and me time for laying in in the afternoon
Sunday Oct 19 Grandaddy and Mamaboo have to leave making me pretty sad. but here we are... one week later pros at changing diapers, pros at nursing and she even put herself to sleep without nursing earlier. it is a sweet life.
a few more days of rest for me for sure, then visitors are allowed soon.
ARG! I was going to add a photo but it isn't working. i'll have to do it later

All in all, it sounds like a successful first week! :)
You're doing great! And look great! A week after, I was a mess of emotions and Sawyer was on a nursing strike. It seems like so long ago... You're doing amazing!
