More Firsts

Currently Holding Sleeping Baby

My baby is addicted to Sanskrit chants.. currently Lokah Samasta Sukino Bhavantu is keeping her in deep sleep. it is a chant for peace and freedom for all beings so i'd sleep well with that in my ear too.

Anyway, some more big firsts this weekend. actually, they're more firsts for me than Sabine.

1. on saturday i went for my first walk outside since she was born. nancy prescribed prenatal exercises and not even a walk around the block for the first three weeks. so saturday, with the 70 degree weather, max, tyco, and my parents...it was time. it felt SO GOOD to be outside, but going around the block was enough for me, i'm glad i waited 3 weeks. and i was a little sore afterwards. maybe next week it'll be back to yoga (hopefully). we found out her stroller rules!

2. last night was my first night alone with Sabine and tyco. and we survived. first there were tears (from both of us). then i made a mantra for myself and repeated that for a while and finally felt better. then we got a phone call from uncle chris (my bro) which we, sadly had to cut short due to a diaper situation. the saving grace though was a phone call from my yoga friend who told me she is 8 weeks pregnant with her 2nd. we commiserated about hormones and feeling vunerable and i helped her about pregnancy stuff and she helped me about new mom stuff. thank goodness for friends.

in other firsts of the last week: i drove Sabine in the car by myself, we went out to eat in a restaurant with her twice, she had what seemed to be a mini-nightmare last night, we took her to a coffee shop in our neighborhood last weekend and met another Nancy couple who live one street over, and she met more relatives.. her aunt liz, and great-grandmother Gigi. an eventful week. pics to come soon... but her gallery is up to date through october, so, enjoy!

This post reminded me of the first walk we took down the street...just a mini walk and I didn't wait three weeks. A few houses down, I grabbed Rob's arm and said, "We have to go back. I think my insides are coming out." They weren't, but it wasn't fun. And I was shocked that walking really FELT like exercise. Have you been hit with the hormonal baby blues surge? I didn't believe in it til it happened to me, and then I cried for hours at a time. It was weird. Then it went away. Thankfully.
