Voting
We voted on tuesday. exercised our civil rights and went out and had our voices heard. voting with a three week old is a little more complicated than just going in by yourself. personally, i was worried about long lines and then when i looked outside to see that a cool rain was coming down i was really worried. our polling place is just up the street from our house at one of the three retirement homes within a mile of us. after making sure she was well fed and completely diapered, we decided to go at 10 am. we figured we'd miss the big morning rush and wouldn't bump into lunchtime people. what we didn't figure on was that 10 am was also the time that the retirement community told all the residents to vote (probably for the same reasons that we planned on) so when we got there the line was still manageable and luckily INDOORS but after a short time of waiting the line grew much much longer with all the sweet old men and women of the place. so we waited all together about an hour. and in that time Sabine got a lot of attention even though she slept through the whole thing in her carrier seat. everyone seemed happy to see a 'little citizen' out at the polls. when it actually came time for the voting, max watched her while i voted and i watched her while he did, so as of yet she has not totally witnessed the process. maybe in 4 years we'll take her back and she'll be at least a little more awake for it.
