no, don't worry, you don't have to call social services on me, i'm not about to harm my baby. today was just a killer long day with a very sweet but strong minded child who refuses to nap unless she is attached to my chest or pinky... and i am removing those options.. with good reason, i'm not just a mean mommy. (c'mon! suck your thumb or SOMEthing!) pinky for germs.. chest because she ends up way over full and spits up so much she is definitely uncomfortable. i'm' giving other options of her own hands or a pacifier (!) and i;m still cuddly and willing to hold her or nap with her (yes, please!). apparently those are not good enough though.... dang hippie attachment parenting!
also, introverted mothers have it tough... especially with an extrovert child. so i think the lesson here is that on the days when max has 12+ hour shoots, i MUST get out of the house with this kiddo for more than 40 minutes.... that, and we need some new toys, apparently the ones we have are SO 2008.
sometimes i have to have these posts, lest you think it's all sunshine and puppy dogs around here 24/7.
oh, and joy of joys... i'm up late pumping for her so we can wake her up early in the morning for an appointment. tomorrow's going to ROCK! arg!

sometimes... a strong let-down can cause the over-full spit-up cycle. block feeding or leaning back during let down........ or even letting down into a burp cloth/towel and then letting her latch back on can help avoid the fire hose (if that is part of it). not that i am at all opposed to pinkies or dummys or mama having a minute. ;) have you ever gone to a LLL meeting? not sure where you are in VA; i have a friend who is an awesome LLL leader in roanoke.
i feel you. one day john lamented, " i just don't understand why there are two jobs in this house: the person holding the baby and the person doing everything else. i think we need to put him down more."
so, i put him down, he started crying, and i said, "that's why." wecome to the world of the high needs child... don't worry. i am convinced high needs children are smarter than the rest... there has to be some good reason for it. dr. sears has some good stuff to say: http://www.askdrsears.com/html/5/t050100.asp.
I love the cute picture with that post! :) I am totally hearing you, from one introvert to another. I never get my recharge time anymore! And my child hates sleeping, so it's a battle. Except for sleeping in, which he loves, thankfully. In any case, those long days are hard, and I think attachment parenting, while amazing, can have some unique problems and struggles that are not there for people who aren't trying that. It IS harder. It IS more of a sacrifice. Worth it? Yes, I think so, but there are days I want to just do it another way that doesn't involve me so much. I hope you can get her sleeping without the help of the pinkie! That's tough. For a while I never thought SAwyer would fall asleep without nursing, but now he does somehow, so things just are always changing.
