Dress Shopping

OK i guess it's time to play catch up with the blog. i am SO far behind on our lives right now. let's get to it...

August... about a month ago sabine and i went to my parents house to see mamaboo and granddaddy and to be with aunt liz as she shopped for her wedding dress. (i can't believe my baby sister is getting married next summer!) it was my first long car trip with her by myself. and then it was set to be two days of dress shopping. i was a little worried to say the least.
lucky for me we seem to have the worlds most adaptable baby. in the car she immediately went to sleep and slept for the entire three hour trip. she slept through driving rain and crazy mid-summer thunderstorms, up and over mountains and to the clear blue sky and thank goodness she did. i don't know if i would have made it if she'd cried the whole way.
then two days straight of dress shopping and sabine was AWESOME. i put her in her travel stroller and we went around to the shops. she ate cheerios, read her books and was happy as can be. of course, she loved looking at the bling on the headbands, tiaras, and other jewelry. but i was truly and happily amazed. she was extremely well behaved even on only minimal naps. how lucky i am.

after the dress shopping was all settled (Liz found the PERFECT one!) then we stayed in town to celebrate Gigi's 90th birthday. a gravett girls get together happened on friday night when all the cousins arrived and we went to work doing odd jobs like brewing iced tea and peeling eggs for deviled eggs. somehow a few people ended up under the table.... sabine, angelically, slept through that craziness.


and on saturday more fun as we set up the tea and then partied with all of Gigi's guests. and of course, it wouldn't be a party for gigi unless she gave a speech while wearing a tiara and a tiger tail! Great times! sabine was an angel and after all the fun i packed her in the car and we drove home late that night. whew! a whirlwind but good trip.
