Living More... Writing Less

Seems i've been living the life more and writing/reflecting on it less. sometimes the seasons will change and about three months later my body and mind actually wrap around the change, just in time for it to change again. hopefully this fall will be different. i wasn't really ready for it, but it's here anyway and i'm trying to LIVE in it this year. so instead of a cute baby picture you get a report on my life these days... more baby pics to come, i promise.

here are random bits about living life lately:

- it is VATA time of year according to Ayurveda. (The ancient indian medicine). being Vata time of year the wind blows and the air becomes dry and our bodies start to dry out and we take on stress so much more easily. so in Vata time of year we should take care of ourselves better. (of course, instead we do things like go back to school, start big projects, and start to plan for the holidays). so to take care of yourself this week i recommend SOUP. eat a lot of soup or stew. it is hot and it is moist and it is heavy... all the opposite things of vata. soup, stews, one pot meals, and casseroles are particularly good. that and wear layers so that your body isn't so affected by the wind. and wear a scarf to protect your throat. if at all possible, slow down, take it easy and go to bed early. we'll see how it all goes for me, but i've really been enjoying the soup lately.

- the yoga is back up and running full steam. friday, before my immersion this weekend, i totally thought i'd have a ho-hum practice and then WHAM i was doing full handstands and upward facing bow pose (you'd call it a bridge in gymnastics) and i couldn't get enough. i was telling max today that i love the way i can 'forget' about a piece of the alignment for a while, then rediscover it and it's like a new door opens and the practice is amazing all over again.

- in the past two weeks i've been asked to collaborate on or contribute to four different projects related to body movement or yoga. kind of flattering. and actually, just the role i want to be in right now, collaborator, not leader of the pack. this way i get my feet wet and figure things out before i take off full steam into my own projects. some are at least partially online projects.. i'll let you know when you can see them.

- Sabine is cutting two new front teeth. if she gets them soon that will be 6 teeth up top and only 2 on the bottom. gosh we hope she gets them soon because the cutting part is NO fun this time!

-Sabine has also started sitting herself up on her own. um. hmmm... it's kind of fun to walk into her room and find her playing in her crib with her socks and her toys. and kind of scary to think we really are only moments away from a very mobile little person in our house

- the sky is SO BLUE today and not a cloud in it. i have nothing else to say about it.

that is how i'm living and being in the world right now. off to the meditation cushion before that girl wakes up.
how are you living your life this autumn??
