Early Riser

I kind of question whether i should even post about this. my friend has this expression 'that wipes the smug off my face' which means, i was feeling really confident about something and then my kid went along and changed up on me. like last week when i smuggly thought, 'man, we're awesome, sabine is 18 months old and has never thrown up'... and she promptly puked 3 times in the next 24 hours... that wiped the smug off my face. (she's all better now by the way)
anyway, i'm posting anyway. so she's a pretty darn good sleeper and we've been very very very fortunate that usually she sleeps pretty late in baby time. until the time changed she'd sleep until 7 then get in bed with us and often go back to sleep until 8. i know, it is ridiculously awesome. and unfortunately i didn't really know how good i had it until it started to get light and loud (BIRDS!) out earlier. now she's waking up anywhere between 6 and 7. hopefully usually closer to 7. and she cuddles and nurses for a little while but RARELY goes back to sleep anymore. ugh. so now we're up earlier than ever and it's a little hard to get my evening adjusted to go to bed by 8:30 to accommodate for it. so i'm tired. but anyway the whole reason for the post is to say that when she does get up and get in bed with us we have a really sweet time until one or the other parent is finally roused enough to start the day. she tends to roll back and forth, and look at her books and generally snuggle in and play. it is a very sweet way to start the day and i'm so grateful that right now nobody has to be anywhere at any particular time so we can lounge as long as we like. i just wish she'd go back to 7am instead of 6. oh well. here are some shots....

Saw has done the same shift! He used to sleep until 8-9 and now we're lucky if it's 6:30. He tried 5, and we put a quick end to that. Now we tell him he can get out of bed (and come get me out of bed) when he sees light outside the window. He gets this. Of course, when we started this, it was light outside at 7, and now it's like 6:10, so poo on us.
