OK, i hope to slowly but surely crawl back into blogging about Sabine. Forgive the incredibly busy spring this year and i hope summer will bring me back....
Anyway. a few weeks ago i went shopping with sabine because i needed a few new clothes. Clothes shopping with her isn't the easiest thing to do. She doesn't particularly like dressing rooms and the first time we tried it she CRIED like a baby the entire time. not fun. I think she thought we were suddenly in a doctor's office. So this time i planned ahead and brought a few toys to keep her entertained.
Well, the toys lasted about five seconds and soon i found myself handing over my bag to be completely rearranged while i tried the clothes. examining bags is one of her pastimes, and not one i let her do very often. babysitters do it all the time but it drives me nuts to be putting my wallet back together every time i want to go somewhere. so getting to play in my bag was a real treat for her.
So i'm going along trying on my clothes, things are going well, she's happy, i'm finding things i like... and then i start to hear: 'No, no, no.' being said somewhat softly on my right. At first i honestly didn't notice. but then she's saying it again 'No, no no' Hmmm... what is going on?
I looked over and she'd found the gum that i'd taken away and put in my bag for safe keeping. she was unwrapping each piece, putting it right up to her tongue and then telling herself 'No, no, no' in a calm but stern voice. it was all i could do to keep from bursting into laughter.
needless to say i took the gum and put it in my pocket (and ended up running it through the washer and dryer, ugh! why did i even HAVE gum in the first place?) and she went happily along removing all the change from my wallet. i'm just glad to know she 1. knew she shouldn't have it and 2. stopped herself from doing it. Hooray for the Superego Freud would say. i like having a good kid.
