Currently Craving: All the chocolate in the WORLD!
i am the main grocery shopper in our house. max comes with sometimes and he is capable of going on his own but in general i'm the one to do it. that's probably good because i am particular about some things and sometimes that requires visiting more than one store in a single trip. recently i've had two shopping adventures...
last week i went to Ukrops to do the family shopping. in general i don't go to Ukrops for the full on shop because it is more expensive than Kroger. i like to just go there for the things kroger doesn't have, like fresh local peaches. but this time i had so many ukrops things on the list it didn't make sense to go to kroger so i just hit the krops. i took my time and enjoyed myself which meant a few random things ended up in the cart, but no big deal. by the time i got to the end i had a LOT of groceries so i had to stand in line and have someone check me out (usually i do the self check out). the woman in the line was very concerned about the bagging and the weight of all my groceries. she practically yelled at the sweet older man who was bagging everything to make sure that he didn't make things so heavy i couldn't handle it. he then practically yelled back that he was doing just fine, thank you. she said it was her protective instinct coming out because i was carrying a child. so then at ukrops they carry the groceries out to the car for you. usually i decline but with so many bags i couldn't do it myself this time. so the poor little old man drove the cart out to my car. and loaded everything up for me. seriously i think it was more dangerous for HIM to be lifting things than for me. and when i tried to help he told me 'don't work so hard' and wouldn't let me do it. so that was an interesting trip, in a good way. i like having people take care of me when needed i guess.
then this morning it was a different pregnant story all together. i was awakened early by my cell phone ringing twice in a row and it wasn't for me. arg! so then i was awake so i decided to get all my things DONE so i could chill before yoga practice with a friend this afternoon. i did the online things i needed, including paying a bill. then i took off for Kroger this time. made it around the store, less impulse buying.. got some things to prepare for home birth etc. i got through the line and looked in my bag and GASP!!! I TOTALLY FORGOT MY WALLET!!! oh my goodness! arg! so the woman bagged everything up and i drove home in the rain. ran inside (well, waddled inside) totally confused tyco as i said hello and goodbye in one breath. then drove back to the store and paid for everything. talk about annoying. the woman was very nice and really didn't seem to mind that she had to check out my groceries for the second time. and i'm grateful for that. i'm just annoyed that i had to spend the extra time driving back and forth when i could have been sleeping. oh well.
i'll be happy to have my brain back if it ever returns.
