Currently Craving: Pregnancy Tea
This weekend was one of those rare weekends when both max and i were in town and we didn't have company or any real plans. that doesn't happen very often in our life so we have to celebrate it when it does. This weekend richmond was also hit with the remnants of tropical storm hanna. essentially hours of straight downpour rains that would keep any sane normal people inside... especially those who are nearly 8 months pregnant. but whoever said we were sane and normal?
and so, in the middle of it all... serious deluge... max decides it is the perfect time to run some errands, and as i've holed up in the house most of the week i totally agree with him. we have three stops. first is target to return some duplicates and to pick up a pack and play since eva and david still need theirs. second is petsmart because tyco is absolutely out of food and must be starving by now. and third is a rug store on broad street.. max is convinced babe needs a new rug in her room.
just before setting out i grab an umbrella but figure i'll barely need it... we'll just run to the stores. Turns out it's really hard to RUN when you're as pregnant as i am. who knew? instead i kind of waddle my way to target under the tiny umbrella that isn't doing much to keep me dry. we do however make it through the things we need to do. (gigi can rest easy that we now own crib sheets). then it's back out into the weather. at this point we have a cart full of items and max says he's just going to book it to the truck... pack and play in his arms. so he's off and running, completely drenched in his t-shirt and shorts. and i'm stuck to waddle to the truck with the little bags in my arms.
next stop petsmart i don't even bother to get out. and by the time max gets back he's even more drenched and now COLD from all the water. we start to make our way up broad street and can barely see through the windshield. at this point i'm starting to feel how annoyed max is with being wet and cold. and i'm starting to fear for my own safety as the rain is continuing and all the "other" drivers are driving so crazy. luckily he read my mind and asked if i really wanted to go shopping for rugs right then. NO WAY!
on the way onto the interstate we see a tree fall down and cross one of the exit ramps ( or max sees it, i was totally engrossed in my hot chocolate). and we know we've made the best decision by heading for home.
so no rug yet. babe's room is still a complete work in progress. and at this point i don't recommend going out for a run in a deluge while 8 months pregnant. but i'm just glad i got max all to myself for a few days before he takes off for ohio tomorrow. whew!
