for a few days we knew work was happening and we hoped for new sidewalks and went about our normal lives.
then, the jackhammering started ( at 7 am each day) and got louder and louder as it got closer to our house! then they decided that our corner was the perfect place to park the backhoe AND to place the huge metal dumpsters. so then after jackhammer in the mornings we got the lovely sounds of huge chunks of cement being dropped by a backhoe into the metal dumpsters. complete with beeping sounds every time he reversed, ARG! for DAYS! this is about the time sabine dropped her great napping routine in favor of crying.. wonder why.
one day it was so bad we bundled her and walked her and tyco around the neighborhood for over an hour. it also sent us home earlier for thanksgiving, and on the morning when they brought out the chainsaw she screamed so much that max had to take her to the coffee shop so i could do my yoga (to the sound of chainsaw, yay!)
after all of that, they didn't make any repairs to the sidewalks immediately at our house, and a few spots could use it. thankfully though they worked fast and are up the street far enough away that we don't hear them any more. all that remains are the nice new walkways.... and max's new ride, the Backhoe right outside our door. (i so wish we had a 3 year old boy here to appreciate this.)
